A Few Local Resources for Houston Nonprofits

Houstonskyline

Maybe I was the only one that didn’t get the memo, but while doing research recently I came across a few resources  I thought it would be great to share.

Don’t get too excited though. My original gripe about resources in general still holds true though!

Resource List

For help with enlisting and facilitating volunteers there are these two programs:

Nonprofits dealing in the arts might be interested in the first city initiative. All organizations will find the second of interest:

This initiative is one that caught my eye. It’s a fairly new endeavor Mayor Parker started to bring civic and nonprofit leaders together for discussion and collaboration. I would love to see more projects like this on a more regular basis.

This is another website encouraging shared resources and collaboration among nonprofits in the gulf-coast region.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t point out that, and give props to, the City for some of the projects they’ve got going. However, we’ve still got a long way to go before local organizations are given the resources, and recognition, they deserve.

In the meanwhile, I hope Mayor Parker will keep these efforts up. Kudos to her for getting the ball rolling.

Oh, and if there are any other cool resources you think organizations should know about please leave a comment and share!
